Today was the 1st anniversary of my father-in-law, A.C Hearn's homegoing to be with Jesus. I wanted to honor his memory and his son's love with a poem. Although a few of my grandparents are mentioned, it doesn't say less of the love and respect I had for him, Pop-Pop. He made me feel very appreciated and a natural part of his family. I appreciate this son he reared as my husband and I appreciated the love he had for my children. He went along with Mawmaw in all she wanted to do in spoiling them rotten. I pray for Kevin and Brenda as this first, tough year has passed and tough years are still ahead. I know that our Lord will help them each step of the way, because A.C. is a little too busy now, praising the Savior!
What Are They Doing In Heaven?
What are they doing in Heaven?
The ones that we loved so.
When with the Lord, did they begin
To continue as before?
Has Pop-Pop gone a fishin'
In that River in the sky?
Or has Memaw sat a talkin'
To all who pass her by?
Papaw strummed his ol' guitar
And with the church did sing
Is he now joined with Heaven's choir
In worship of the King?
Remember Mamaw Becky
How she loved with all her heart?
Is she now in Heaven happily
serving and doing her part?
There are uncles, aunts and greats
Who've up to Heaven gone
I know they're bowed down at His feet
Round God's eternal throne?
Oh, how their absence makes me ponder:
If part of what they're doing there
Was part of what that they did here,
Oh, how I want my LIFE to matter.

We recently stayed at Shakertown Village near Harrodsburg, Ky. Every home and every room there has trim work around with wooden pegs screwed in every couple inches. There aren't any closets, just pegs for your clothes, coats and hats to hang. My husband, Kevin, who would like to ush
er back the days when men wore hats, had many places to hang his hat while there. At home we have three beautiful hooks by our front door where Kevin can hang his hat. It is comforting to have a place to hang your hat and a place to call home. "Home, is where the heart is," they say, and home is where love is. Love is not automatic.. It must grow in our hearts and we must grow in love. Jesus said in Matthew 22:37-40, " ... Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."When I read these verses this morning, I thought of those pegs at Shakertown and our hook for hats at home. The verse states that all the law and prophets hang on one thing...love. My feminine mind automatically sees a great big heart with one of those pegs drilled in the center and suspended from that are the Ten commandments and the Prophetical Scrolls. That is a nice way to think of it, but the love that holds us is not as not as pretty. It is a picture of an Old Rugged Cross where our LORD Jesus suffered and died. He was nailed by three great spikes to that tree for me. He was the ultimate Love sacrifice and payment for the sins of the world. It was on him my sins were laid. He bore my burden of sin. He carried all my shame. Praise His name! He died, was buried and rose again! He is coming again to take us ,who choose to accept His love, to His home he is preparing for us. That Love is, ...A place where you can hang your hat!
